African Queen jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of African Queen jasper, from Africa. I'm told this fine grainless material is a member of the family of porcelain jaspers, though it's not commonly seen these days because most is exported to China as soon as it's mined. Too bad, it's great stuff! A lot like Biggs, but usually a bit lighter and often with 'freckles', it can cut those same type of scenic cabs. This one reminds me of an old photo in sepia tones. It has a very high rounded dome, a crisp shape, and it is polished both front and back.
