Petrified wood cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon trio of colorful petrified wood, from Utah's famed Mt. Henry area. This ancient fossil material is a joy to work, with next to none of the typical fractures pet wood so often has. I am told this material is more accurately called an agate replacement, though a close look reveals that it still has strong hints of the ring pattern of the once-living tree it came from. It's a veritable feast of rich yellowish-orange hues, with areas of excellent translucence. These will look grand in most any setting, either gold or silver, no matter how simple or fancy. Each of the cabs has a nicely rounded dome, a stylized triangular spear shape, and a mirror polish both front and back.
