Moss opalite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of moss opalite, from Australia, also known as dendritic opalite. This unusual form of opal features a variety of attractive yellow tones with an intricate display of black spidery dendrites. This one's particularly appealing because of the large open areas of color, without the sometimes overwhelmingly muddy pattern of too much moss. Nothing ordinary or dull about this baby! I've set this material in both gold and silver with beautiful results, but I think the contrast of a silver mounting would show it off best. Of course, that's for you to decide! The cab has a nicely rounded dome, a strong designer 'boat' or 'spear' shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
