Morgan Hill poppy jasper cab ~
Here is a fancy cabochon of poppy jasper, from the famous Morgan Hill, CA. location, no longer open to collecting. This little beauty has a bold pattern of orbs in bright reddish orange, against a background of deep burgundy. At center is a fortified area of banding framing a neat yellow heart. It has a fine network of web-like veins, all of which are quite well healed and naturally filled with quartz or jasper; there are NONE of the fractures so common to this collectible material. The cab has a very high rounded dome of 6.5mm, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
