Charoite cab ~
Offered here is a striking cabochon of charoite, from the only deposit where it's ever been found, in Russia. This cab features an astonishing degree of pearly chatoyance, with truly excellent purple coloration. I didn't take a backlit photo, but this gemmy cab is surprisingly translucent, somewhat like the best sugilite gel. You may have to look a while before finding another as nice! The stone has a low but rounded dome of 5mm, a strong shield shape, and despite some negligible pits, it took a fine glossy polish both front and back.
