Pigeon blood agate cab ~
Offered here is a dandy trio of pigeon blood agate cabochons, also known as cornelian, from Utah. (No relation to Walter Pidgeon, the old time screen actor, LOL!) This old time material is so named for its resemblance to splashes or dots that are crimson in color, resembling droplets of pigeon's blood. These classic examples are of the highest calibre, beautifully translucent, and loaded with spots, speckles and splotches of all sizes, as illustrated by the backlit photos. Delicious gemmy color too, nicely matched. Each of the cabs has a well rounded dome, a sleek designer 'spear' shape, and a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.
