Morenci Chrysocolla cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of top quality chrysocolla from Morenci, Arizona. This vibrant cerulean blue material is certainly not plentiful these days, and it's mighty hard to beat when it comes to eye catching. The colors don't translate very well, digitally, so these photos don't do them much justice. In hand, you'll see strong electric turquoise blues, with a scattering of green mossy malachite in some areas, as well as tiny flecks of yellow, and reddish brown cuprite. Some of the agatized quartz is stained blue from the presence of chrysocolla, and there are bright streaks of blue running through it. Highly silicated material like this is quite durable; it's naturally hard enough to take a great polish, so it will wear well in any type of jewelry you can dream up. The stone has a high rounded dome of 6mm, and a sleek designer shape, polished both front and back.
