Crown of Silver Psilomelane cab ~
Offered here is a striking cabochon of Crown Of Silver psilomelane, from Chihuahua, Mexico. This classic material is sometimes referred to as 'black malachite', though there's no real relation. It features a dark swirling pattern of bands and a few eyes in shiny 'smoked chrome', alternating with sub-metallic black. Some of the silvery bands are quite wide, which is a hallmark of the grand old stuff. The lovely moire pattern is the perfect companion to mokume gane metal work. The stone has a well rounded dome, a powerfully crisp shape, and a super reflective glassy polish both front and back.
