Crown of Silver Psilomelane cab ~
Offered here is a designer cabochon of Crown Of Silver psilomelane, from Chihuahua, Mexico. This classic material is sometimes referred to as 'black malachite', though there's no real relation. It features a darkly whirling pattern of bands and a scattering of eyes in shiny 'smoked chrome', alternating with sub-metallic black. Very reflective, the lovely moire pattern pattern is revealed in the the highlights. In fact, it's so shiny, it was challenging to capture decent photos because the surface wants to mirror everything in the room! The stone has a well rounded dome, a sweet and curvy shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
