Dryhead agate ~
Offered here is an amazing cabochon of collectible Dryhead agate, from Montana. This bright and well patterned beauty features wild fortification banding in vivid hues of reddish-orange, which frames a sparkling crystalline core. This extra fancy example has next to none of the fractures so often typical of the material; happily the only light feather I can find is totally healed and all but unnoticeable. I should mention that there are some tiny triangular voids in the crytal 'heart', but they add rather than detract from this unique gemstone. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of just under 6mm, a designer 'pillow' shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back. And it's a steal at well under $2 per carat!
