Priday plume agate cab ~
Here is a lovely cabochon of rare Priday plume agate, from the Priday Ranch digs in Oregon. This stone was cut from some grand old stock which had been stashed away for decades in the cherished collection of an old gentleman rockhound. The busy golden orange plumes are classically ornate, adrift in the pool of their agate 'window', framed by a bit of the rust and avocado matrix. There's also a streak of white called a water-level band, which was horizontal when the thunderegg formed. The cab has a low but well-rounded dome, a sweet teardrop shape, nicely polished both front and back.
