Priday moss agate cab ~
Offered here is an enchanting cabochon of Priday moss agate, from the Priday Ranch digs in Oregon. It was cut from a prized nodule, tucked away for decades in the cherished collection of an old lapidary. It is truly a fascinatingly unique stone, with an ornate pattern of tube-like mosses and streamers reminiscent of shooting stars in a meteor storm. The background is a very deep shade of bluish-purple which adds to the 'night gallery' illusion nicely, including the sunset orange 'sky' toward the tip. Backlit, the darkness of the agate base nearly disappears and becomes suprisingly translucent. Please click to enlarge all the photos for a visual treat. The cab has a high rounded dome, and a graceful shape that should be a joy to set. Despite a very minute degree of undercutting where the tubes meet the surface, it has a fine glassy polish both front and back.
