Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. The cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with translucent and burnt reddish-orange agate, some of which has neat fortifications, like tiny thundereggs. There's a sponge-like network of webbing toward the large end, which would be much more translucent if this stone were not so thick and substantial. The cab has a high rounded dome, a strong designer 'shield' shape, and an excellent glassy polish both front and back.
