Amethyst cab ~
Here is a cabochon of unusual chevron amethyst, from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. This material intrigues me not only with its unusual colors, but for the attractive look of the many healed inclusions. They look like radiating crackles. A close look at the structure of the stone reveals that there is a hexagonal crystal at the core, grown over by another of a different, more brownish purple color. Neat, huh? The stone has well rounded dome, an elegant designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
