Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Utah's fossilized dinosaur bone, in a most collectibly unusual 'spiderweb' pattern. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. The cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with translucent agate, leaving only a lattice of darker webbing with a slightly metallic look to it. The banded fortifications and the sponge-like network of patterns looks utterly amazing! The backlit and other photos reveal the stone's remarkable degree of translucence and depth; please click them up to full size for a better view. It's some of the most appealing gem bone I've ever enjoyed cabbing, and there's no doubt it'll create a fabulous item jewelry that is literally a piece of the past! The cab has a low but well rounded dome, and a sweet designer shape. Despite a very negligible scattering of teensy pits, it took a super glassy polish both front and back.
