Crown of Silver Psilomelane cab ~
Offered here is a designer cabochon of Crown Of Silver psilomelane, from Chihuahua, Mexico. This classic material is sometimes referred to as 'black malachite', though there's no real relation. It features a darkly whirling pattern of bands, with a few eyes here and there, in shiny 'smoked chrome' alternating with sub-metallic black. It's a bit more subtle in hand, and very highly reflective. In fact, it's so shiny, it was challenging to capture decent photos because the surface mirrored everything in the room! The stone has a well rounded dome, a sweet and curvy shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
