Chrysocolla malachite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of extra fancy chrysocolla and malachite (or is it the other way 'round?), from the African Congo. This striking material is something seldom seen, with an intricate pattern of black plumes edged with chrysocolla. Perhaps they should rightly be called dendrites, but whatever the name, they're spectacular! The green malachite shows just a bit of chatoyance, too. Yummy! Please note that the surface is somewhat wavy, due to the varying hardnesses of the different minerals, but I was still able to achieve a decent polish. This amazing stone has a rounded dome of 7mm, a sweet designer 'paisley' shape, with a glossy finish both front and back.
