Blue quartz cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Brazilian blue quartz. I saw this deeply colored material a few years ago at the Quartzite shows, and knew we had to drag some home to my lapidary studio. The rough is certainly a pleasure to work with, much easier and finer than I imagined it would be. And I love the rich color, which is 100% natural, not the result of any treatments or dyes. The blue has a nice semi-translucent quality, and the pointed tip is even clearer, with sparkles like crackly ice. It looks great in the silver pendants Rain and I created, but the contrast in gold would probably look even nicer. This cab has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a graceful designer shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
