Amethyst Sage Agate ~
Here is a cabochon of amethyst sage agate, from Nevada. This appealing beauty is the kind I like best, featuring the classic mix of colors. The burnt gold has streaks of clear running through it that lend a velvety quality, contasting wonderfully with the gemmy purples and lavenders. There are some neat black dendrites too, along with some smoky agate patches, very nicely composed in the stone. It has a well rounded dome, a crisply bold 'shield' shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
