Imperial cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of Imperial jasper, from Mexico. This old stock material is a long time favorite of many, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I always enjoy working with. This example is a study in light and dark shades of mauve and pink, with classic ribbony patterns that remind me of breaking waves at the seashore. The stone has a well rounded dome of 5.5mm, a designer 'catseye' shape, and it is polished to a glassy brilliance both front and back.
