Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is hundreds of millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with a pastel shade of bluish purple agate. The bold webbing is a contrasting golden color, so it really stands out, even from a distance. This gemmy stone is very translucent, much moreso than the backlit photo reveals. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, and it is polished both front and back.
