Stone Canyon agate ~
Here is a striking cabochon of classic Stone Canyon jasper, from California. It is fine example of brecciated stone, which means the original ochre-yellow jasper was once broken apart by some powerful earth movement, and then naturally re-cemented with contrasting burgundy-red agate. Even though this stone is quite substantial, at 7mm thick, the agate has a nice degree of translucency in those infilled areas, for great added depth. In all the years I've been cabbing, this is the nicest patterned, most beautifully colored Stone Canyon jasper I've yet seen! The cab has a sleek designer 'leaf' shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 54x24
Weight: approx. 63 carats
