African Queen jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of African Queen jasper, from Africa. I'm told this fine grained material is a member of the family of porcelain jaspers, though it's not commonly seen these days because most is exported to China as soon as it's pulled from the ground. Too bad, it's great stuff! A lot like iggs, but usually a bit lighter and often with 'freckles', it can cut those same type of scenic cabs. This one reminds me of an old photo in sepia tones. It has a high rounded dome of 6mm, a crisp octagonal shape, and it is polished both front and back.
