Wave Hill agate cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Wave Hill agate, from Australia's Northern Territory. It's not often that a 'new' material becomes an instant favorite of mine, but this exceptional agate won my heart straight away. Please take a good look at the details in the stone and you'll see why. This one's a beaut, with a full pattern of fortifications in rich raspberry, alternating with clear. Along the outside edges are some fascinating orby figures, scallops and bullseyes in pink, mauve, and cream, adding even more appealing character. What a delightful contrast, eh? I do need to mention the presence of a healed fracture; I doubt you'll find it overly distracting. The uniqueness of each Wave Hill agate makes it a lapidary's fantasy, a collector's MUST HAVE, and I have no doubt it'll be a jewelry designer's best friend. This stone has a nicely rounded dome of 6.5mm, a versatile shape, and a great glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 33x28 mm
Weight: approximately 50 carats
