Saddle Mt. petrified wood cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Saddle Mountain petrified wood, which might be more accurately called a wood replacement. I can certainly tell you this fabulous agate material is a joy to work with, and cuts striking stones. The colors are yellowish orange, caramel, rusty red and brown, with tiny black dendrites; simply amazing when you remember what it started out to be in life. Viewed with a bit of imagination, it's oddly scenic, perhaps depicting an artsy rendition of the sun rising between rugged bluffs. This one is sure to look grand in any creative item of jewelry, and either gold or silver will set it off beautifully. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6mm, with a glassy polish both front and back.
