Labradorite cab ~
Offered here is a long cabochon of labradorite, a gemmy form of feldspar which takes its name from the location where it's found in Canada's Labrador peninsula. Christopher cut this highly crystalline stone to bring out its flashes of brilliant metallic hues in light and dark blue, the color of which very much reminds me of Morhpo butterflies. It is oriented so the colorful labradorescent effect is at its best when positioned vertically, either end up; then it will show off nicely in your jewelry! Please note that, typical of the material, there are a few areas of 'fairy frost' type feathering within the stone. It has a very high rounded dome of 7.5mm, and a sleek designer shape with a gleaming polish both front and back.
Size: 57x14mm
Weight: approximately 42 carats
