Lake Superior agate cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Lake Superior agate, the state gem of Minnesota, said to be the world's oldest agates. This cab may seem rather on the quiet side, but it does have some lovely details. There's a fortification and chevron pattern of banding in orange and peach, with a ghostly core in pink, along with some water-level banding in white. The translucent background is composed of muted shades of gray and brown, that warmly intensify with backlighting. The stone has a high rounded dome of 7mm, a smooth 'pillow' shape, and a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.
