Bloodstone cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of bloodstone, also known as heliotrope, from India. This classic material remains a favorite, treasured by many for its contrasting blood red spots, which are said to be symbolic of the blood of Christ. This example has a nice pattern of larger splotches of deep blood red against a background of deep rich greens, as well as some dark rose reds at one side. My personal preferences for bloodstones like this is a silver setting, but please feel free to follow your own capable imagination. -smile- The stone has a well rounded dome of 6.5mm, a sleek designer shape, and despite a few miniscule pits, mostly on the backside, it has a great glassy finish both front and back.
