Silver in cobaltite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of dendritic native silver with cobaltite, from the Cobalt, Ontario, Canada mine. This is a very rare, collectible material, quite unusual and unique, with a high precious silver content. It certainly looks the part, and is surprisingly heavy for its size. The ornate dendrites are really fascinating, reminding me of frilly ferns or snowflakes, but they were mighty tough to photograph because they gleam so brightly. Much like chrome! The surface may appear rough in the pics, but rest assured, it is quite smooth, though there are a couple teensy vugs in the crystalline area. This particular gem is from my own personal collection, and it's a beaut. When what little I have left is gone, it will be next to impossible to replace, so if you've had your eye on one of these little treasures, GRAB IT! This stone has a nicely rounded dome of 6+mm, a designer 'talon' shape, and it's finely polished both front and back.
Size: 43x22mm
