Crown of Silver Psilomelane cab ~
Offered here is an exceptional cabochon of Crown Of Silver psilomelane, from Chihuahua, Mexico. This classic old wide-band material is sometimes referred to as 'black malachite', though there's no real relation; it's becoming increasingly spendy due to a lack of production at the source. This cab features awesome bullseyes and bands in shiny 'smoked chrome' alternating with sub-metallic black. The beautiful moire pattern is the perfect companion to mokume gane metal work. The stone has a high rounded dome of 6mm, and a gracefully fluid designer shape you're sure to have fun with. It was tough to capture good photos because of the super reflective mirror-like polish, which it has both front and back, but these are a decent representation. In hand, you'll find it darker and more subdued overall.
