Pietersite cab ~
Offered here is a fabulous cabochon of premium Chinese pietersite. For years I've heard there's been severe flooding at the mine, meaning no production of material. That explains why Chinese pietersite is so difficult to come by, especially the high calibre rough used to cut this stone. This colorful, flashy stone features rich midnight blue, bright gold, burnt orange and deep red chatoyance in a swirling, almost folded, pattern that shifts and changes with movement. Each area seems to have its own individual angle at which light causes it to dance, and there is a small areas of translucent agate, illustrated by the backlit photo. Please be sure to click the pics to enlarge them to full size to see the fine details of the cab. It's truly an amazing treasure, and I'm confident you won't find better anywhere. It has a generously high rounded dome of 7mm, a versatile shape that can be oriented in many ways, and a fine glassy polish both front and back. And for a stone of this quality, my per carat price is a steal!
