myrickite cab ~
Here is a cabochon of rare myrickite, from California's Death Valley. This cab features a nice scattering of bright ruby red cinnabar in the white quartz-calcite areas, contrasting nicely against the grayish matrix which surrounds it. There are tiny flecks of glittery metallics present that somehow escaped the camera's eye, but hopefully the pics reveal enough about this beautiful stone. It has a well rounded dome of 5.5mm, and a great glossy polish both front and back.
