Imperial cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Royal Imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) This one features a gorgeous orbicular pattern of orbs upon orbs in pastel shades of avocado, with streaks of an unusual sky blue. The pattern fits the shape of the stone quite well, and the backside is beautiful as well. The stone has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a crisp geometric shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
