Pietersite cab ~
Offered here is a fancy cabochon of premium Chinese pietersite. This magnificent stone has a brecciated appearance, with each 'piece' showing its own direction of chatoyance. The color is predominately a deep coppery red, with highlights of brilliant gold, and areas where the two colors blend into a beautiful coral hue. I particularly like this stone's satiny swirls that seem to shift and change from every angle, which very much remind me of gem ammolite. I do need to mention a slight undercutting in the ochre colored jasper area, though it's not overly distracting. The stone has a high rounded dome of 7mm, and a fine glassy polish both front and back. And for a stone of this quality, my per carat price is a genuine bargain!
