Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of Utah's fossilized dinosaur bone. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. The cells in this gemmy bone have been completely replaced with translucent agate, leaving only a lattice of golden tan webbing. Several of the larger cells are very interestingly fortified in crimson and burnt orange, resembling tiny banded thundereggs, which they actually are! The stone has several cells that show a nice degree of translucence and depth, but because it's quite thick, I was not able to capture a decent backlit photo. No doubt it'll create a fabulous item jewelry that is literally a piece of the past! This gorgeous cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a crisp designer 'shield' shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
