Cacoxenite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of quartz with inclusions of golden cacoxenite, a rarity cut from grand old Brazilian material. Technically, the inclusions are the mineral goethite, and I can truthfully tell you that those little spikes are the most amazingly bright golden color I've ever seen in rock! Their appearance is like spun gold, and as you can see, they really do look like 'thorns', which are arranged in neat rows. The backlit photo reveals that the translucent quartz has an area that's slightly tinged amethystine purple. There are a few of the typical 'fairy frost' inclusions present, but nothing at all distracting in a stone of this size. The cab has a generously high and well rounded dome of 8mm, and a brilliantly glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 53x20mm
Weight: approximately 72 carats
Price: Sold Current gemstone offerings $139.00
