Wave Hill agate cab ~
Offered here is an extra special cab of Wave Hill agate, from Australia's Northern Territory. It's not often that a 'new' material becomes an instant favorite of mine, but this exceptional agate won my heart straight away. Everyone who sees it is impressed! When Terry Maple spied these agates at this year's Tucson show, he bought the entire lot! Bless his heart for sending some fine little nodules home for me to enjoy! Please take a good look at the details in this stone and you'll see why I'm so excited about this world class agate. It's a real ZINGER, with a full pattern of rich raspberry red fortification bands alternating with deep burgundy, wine, pink, cream and black, as well as blended hues there's just no name for. The bands in the pink areas are incredibly fine, razor thin and intricate, so only the larger images will reveal what your eye sees in person; please be sure to enlarge the photos. Along the outside edges are some orby figures, scallops and bullseyes, adding even more appealing character. What a startling contrast, huh? The uniqueness of each Wave Hill agate makes it a lapidary's fantasy, a collector's MUST HAVE, and I have no doubt it'll be a jewelry designer's best friend. It has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a versatile 'pillow' shape, and a sweet glassy polish both front and back.
