Tahoma jasper cab ~
Offered here is an extraordinary cabochon of Tahoma jasper, from the slopes of Mt. Rainier in Washington state. The local American Indian name for that same mountain is Tahoma, which means 'next to heaven', and it is considered to be a sacred place. So someone chose a great name for this terrific material! This strikingly unique cab is a splendid example, with a bold pattern that includes several shades of slate blue/gray, creamy yellow/orange, black and brown tones. Great contrast here. Personally, I think Tahoma jasper must be a mixture of agate and jasper, because most of this cab is warmly translucent in a golden honey color. I do need to mention that there are a few small negligible flaws typical of Tahoma jasper, such as slight undercutting and a fine hairline. Truthfully, they're easily overlooked; you just can't miss with this one, no matter what your plans might be! The stone has a low rounded dome of 4mm, a gracefully curved designer shape, and it is polished both front and back.
