Hornitas poppy jasper cab ~
Here is a fancy cabochon of rare Hornitas poppy jasper, collectible old stock from California. Top notch material like this has become mighty scarce these days, even moreso than Morgan Hill poppy jasper. This largish beauty has a bold pattern that really catches the eye. Its creamy orbs are edged with burgundy, against a background of bright red. There are a few web-like veins present, all of which are quite well healed, so the cab is wholly sound and stable; there are none of the fractures so common to the poppy jaspers from California's earthquake zones. The cab has a very high rounded dome of 7mm, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
