Stone Canyon agate ~
Offered here is a striking cabochon of unusual Stone Canyon jasper, from California. This material is a fine example of brecciated stone, which means the original red and reddish orange jasper was once broken apart by some powerful earth movement, and then naturally re-cemented with translucent agate. The agate has a great degree of translucency in those infilled areas, for an added dimension of depth. There are some odd threads of white present, but they're not flaws, just part of the pattern. In all the years I've been cabbing, I've only come across a very small amount of *RED* Stone Canyon jasper like this, and you guessed it, I bought it all. -grin- The stone has a crisp designer shape, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 55x15mm
Weight: approximately 41 carats
