Lazulite in quartzite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon cut from rare lazulite in quartzite, premium lapidary material from Georgia's Graves Mountain area. This unique stone has several deep blue lazulite crystals, in various sizes. The grayish quartzite background is extra gemmy in this example, with a nice degree of translucence, and contains a multitude of silvery pyrite dots and flecks that sparkle like fine glitter, though only a hint of them is visible in the enlarged photos. It has a low but well rounded dome of just over 5mm, a sleek designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
