Wave Hill agate cab ~
Offered here is yet another tasty cab of Wave Hill agate, from Australia's Northern Territory. It's not often that a 'new' material becomes an instant favorite of mine, but this exceptional agate won my heart straight away. Everyone who sees it is impressed! When Terry Maple spied these agates at this year's Tucson show, he bought the entire lot! Bless his heart for sending some fine little nodules home for me to enjoy! This example shows some very VERY fine banding, in multiple shades of dark rose, pink and old ivory white, with a sparkly crystalline area in the rounded end that has a slightly purple tint to its lining. There are some neat bullseyes at one side, toward the tip, and a couple scallops on the opposite side. Any fractures present are well healed and sound, ready for your creative fun to begin. Yes indeedy, this new Wave Hill agate is nothing short of amazing, and I'm crazy about it in all its wild variations, can you tell? The uniqueness of each one makes it a lapidary's fantasy, a collector's MUST HAVE, and I have no doubt it'll be a jewelry designer's best friend. This stone has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, and a great glassy polish both front and back.
