Wave Hill agate cab ~
Offered here is a cab of Wave Hill agate, from Australia's Northern Territory. It's not often that a 'new' material becomes an instant favorite of mine, but this exceptional agate won my heart straight away. Everyone who sees it is impressed! When Terry Maple spied these agates at this year's Tucson show, he bought the entire lot! Bless his heart for sending some fine little nodules home for me to enjoy! Have a look at the details in this stone and you'll see why this world class agate has folks so excited. It has a neat banded fortification in shades of deep orange and burnt orange alternating with white. There are also some eyes here and there, in various sizes, toward the edges. It's not a large stone, but it certainly has some great contrast! Yes indeedy, every nodule of this agate offers some surprise or another. The uniqueness of each Wave Hill agate makes it a lapidary's fantasy, a collector's MUST HAVE, and I have no doubt it'll be a jewelry designer's best friend. This has a nicely rounded dome of 5.5mm, and a great glassy polish both front and back.
