Moss opalite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of moss opalite, from Australia, also known as dendritic opalite. This unusual form of opal features a background of lovely pastel yellow with an intricate display of black spidery dendrites. This one's all the more appealing because of the large open areas of color, without the sometimes overwhelmingly muddy pattern of too much moss. I've set this material in both gold and silver with beautiful results, but I think the contrast of a silver mounting would show it off best. Of course, that's for you to decide! The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6+mm, a designer 'paisley' shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
