Wave Hill agate cab ~
Offered here is an extra special cab of Wave Hill agate, from Australia's Northern Territory. It's not often that a 'new' material becomes an instant favorite of mine, but this exceptional agate won my heart straight away. Everyone who sees it is impressed! When Terry Maple spied these agates at this year's Tucson show, he bought the entire lot! Bless his heart for sending some fine little nodules home for me to enjoy! Please take a good look at the details in this stone and you'll see why I'm so excited about this world class agate. It's a real ZINGER, with a full pattern of rich dark red fortification bands alternating with white, and some areas of pastel pink too. Along the outside edges are some orby figures and bullseyes, adding even more character and appeal. What a startling contrast, huh? I do need to mention the presence of a razor fine healed fracture going across the stone, which barely shows in these pics; the cab is nonetheless quite sound and ready for setting, if you so desire. The uniqueness of each Wave Hill agate makes it a lapidary's fantasy, a collector's MUST HAVE, and I have no doubt it'll be a jewelry designer's best friend. It has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a freeform shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
