Priday plume agate cab ~
Offered here is a delightful cabochon of collectibly rare Priday plume agate, from the Priday Ranch digs in Oregon. This intriguing stone was cut from some grand old stock which had been stashed away for decades in the cherished collection of an old gentleman rockhound, and I was extremely blessed to have been able to purchase a bag full of slices from his living estate. Oh for joy!!! This stone has some neat plumes in peach and orange, along with a fringe of greenish and burnt orange mosses, suspended in translucent pools of agate that show them off beautifully. Seldom have I seen such a pretty reddish tint to Priday plume agate, and the backlit photo reveals that it contains several fascinating fortifications. Totally unique, even the surrounding matrix has nice coloration. It has a low but well-rounded dome of 4mm, (which is a might thinner than I prefer, but it works fine for the proportions of this stone), a fat teardrop shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
