Malachite cab ~
Offered here is a large, deluxe cabochon of malachite, from Zaire. It features the classic beauty of countless fine bandings in rich, vividly contrasting shades of light and dark green, with some fancy bullseyes and some areas that show chatoyance, very much like that seen in a satin ribbon. Plenty of character and appeal in this one, folks, it's designer heaven! There is a teensy area near the main orb that's ever so slightly grainy, which is very typical in chatoyant malachite, and I only mention it for accuracy; I don't consider it a flaw. This one will look absolutely magnificent set in either silver or gold, no doubt. The cab has a generously high rounded dome of 8mm, a long and gracefully curved designer shape, with a super glossy polish both front and back. Under a buck a carat, I must be nuts!
