Mosquito jasper cab ~
Here is a fine cabochon of dendritic mosquito jasper, also known as sagebrush jasper, from Wyoming. This fancy example has extra nice dendrites that very much resemble jet black trees and bushes, contrasting wonderfully against a rich earthy ochre background. Just in case, I'd like to mention that there are no cracks or fractures present, the meandering thread of grayish agate is simply part of the unique pattern. The cab has a low rounded dome of 4+mm and a crisp designer 'spear' shape, well polished both front and back.
