Wave Hill agate cab ~
Offered here is a tasty cab of Wave Hill agate, from Australia's Northern Territory. It's not often that a 'new' material becomes an instant favorite of mine, but this exceptional agate won my heart straight away. Everyone who sees it is impressed! When Terry Maple spied these agates at this year's Tucson show, he bought the entire lot! Bless his heart for sending some fine little nodules home for me to enjoy! Please take a good look at the details in this stone and you'll see why this world class agate is so habit-forming for me. In the center is some remarkable fortification banding, orbs and bullseyes in brilliant orange alternating with pale gray. Around that are more orbs, some of which are edged with dusty rose, against a grayish blue background. There is a healed hairline in this stone, but I doubt you'll find that to be devaluing in any way; it's most visible on the back. That side looks very much like Montana's Dryhead agate, doesn't it? Yes indeedy, this agate has all the right stuff, and I'm crazy about it, can you tell? The uniqueness of each Wave Hill agate makes it a lapidary's fantasy, a collector's MUST HAVE, and I have no doubt it'll be a jewelry designer's best friend. This fabulously banded gem has a well rounded dome of 6+mm, and a great glassy polish both front and back.
