Lapis lazuli~
Offered here is a fancy cabochon of lapis lazuli, from Afganistan. This dramatic material sure cuts an eye catching stone! The deep royal blue patches stand out beautifully against a snowy white background, and there are also a few flecks of shiny metallic pyrite. I have to say I much prefer this interesting variegated look to the all blue lapis any day; it has impact and visual interest to spare. My personal preference is silver for setting such stones, but no doubt the contrast with bright gold would look splendidly rich too. This substantial stone has a nicely rounded dome of 6.5mm, a bold designer shape, and it is polished both front and back.
